The 2016 Rare Childhood Disease Fundraiser will be held April 28 – May 6, 2016. This year, we are happy to announce that Snowflake High School and Blue Ridge High School will also be participating. The fundraiser will begin with kick off assemblies to be held on April 28th at 10:30 AM at Blue Ridge High School and 1:20 PM at the Snowflake High School. The kick off assembly for the Blue Ridge Junior High and Middle School will be held April 29th at 8:30 AM
This assembly will be a fun, educational, and interactive event discussing genetics, rare diseases, and highlighting the courageous students in the White Mountains who fight a daily battle with a rare disease. Scientist and staff from TGen’s Center for Rare Childhood Disorders will be at this assembly.
“LET THE PENNY WAR BEGIN! This is a hard assembly to do, as emotions are thick and strong. I LOVE how we spotlight children within our district and their medical needs as they battle Rare Childhood Diseases. What a gift to also meet some amazing doctors and researchers devoted to finding answers. BR Families–show your support and send in those pennies to build your class points & lots of silver coins and dollars to sabotage. Proceeds go to The Belnap Foundation — a local foundation dedicated to assisting local children and their families with Rare Childhood Diseases.”
–Rebecca J. Montoya, BRSD Counselor, LAC, NCC, MEd
Classes will be participating in a penny war the week of May 2 – 6, 2016. This year, Blue Ridge Unified School District will be competing against Snowflake Unified School District to see which district can raise the most money.

Various businesses in the White Mountains will be participating in the 2016 Rare Childhood Disease Fundraiser by having a change container where customers can “Round Up For Rare Disease” and donate their change. For a list of businesses that are participating in this fundraiser, click here. Or if you’d like to donate your change to the schools participating, what will also work. If you would like someone from The Belnap Foundation to come and pick up your change, we would be happy to do this.
